The most significant change in my life was when I decided to study in Korea. I lived my whole life in Turkey. Comming to Korea was definately not an easy choice to make. But whatever the reason was or is, I came to Korea. A new life and lots of new experiences starting with paying my own bills!!! Classes in Korean, 3 meals a day Korean food, not that I am complaining, it was NEW to me. Basically comming to Korea was a new beginning for me. Huge Change.
Thank you for reading.
Have a nice weekend=)
hello professor!
it is difficult to remember, but i will try to answer briefly. i think; the significant change has happened in my life when i was 15 or 16 years old. one day when i got up in the morning, i asked question to myself; what did i achieve in my life can be proud of, what i can do for my parents and world(for example poor children(Indonesia, islands nearby the Thailand and just poor people in our world) who are the same age as me, who from childhood has to struggle all their life to survive;and me who live luxury life and who care about nothing. i do not know why i realized it in a such way, but now i know what i want to achieve in my life.My goals.
thank you. have i profitable days.good luck.

what has been most significant change in your life?
The most significant change in my life happened when I have been to Norway last June for three months. That experience makes me think that firstly, I should help other people and love each other. secondly, when I got old, I'll live there. When I first arrived at Norway, I was astonished to look at the view. Nature was very beautiful so it seemed like I was in a fairy-tale. On the other hand the people there are really nice and considerate. I met a few friends and they gave me the best treatment. And Norwegian loves peace so they relieve the poor and refugees.
I even saw a North Korean girl and adoptees from Korea there, Norway helps her to live there. It was very impressive and moving to me. Lastly, I work as a part time job for one month though it was illegal, my boss was so kind to me and warm-hearted. Finally I fell in love with Norway and I was sorry to have to leave there. That was big change spiritually in my life.
Thank you for reading my article.
Have a nice day.:)

The most significant change in my life was that I decided to change my university. Actually my major was architecture. I had to enter College of Engineering. I knew that i have no aptitude for architecture. But I had too low point at social and natural science of the national scholastic. That's why I had no choice.
Many students do that in Korea.
After one semester, I decide to change my university or major. I wanted to study trade. I told it to my father and he encouraged me to do my way. Finally I was admitted to Hufs.
Till now, I'm satisfied with my choice.

in 2008, I worked in Morocco.
I passed through an intership at the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry, an waitress in the Korean restaurant, a salesperson, a translator for one year tirelessly. Actually in those days I felt that I was enduring that tough living. What made me exhausted was not only the high intensity of the labor but also the unacceptable moroccan's thinking way.
It was first time that I realized my inflexible. I tried to tolerate and to enjoy my environment.
And then, today, I feel that those experiences definitely developped me.

First of all, my attitude to life has been changed from my experiences in foreign countries. I've stayed in Turkey for 1 year and in the USA for 5 months. During the time, I faced many difficulties and had to protect myself. I've learned how to make friends and think things in a positive way. Thanks to my experiences, I'm living a new life. I'm happy with it. :)

About 2 years ago, I decided to study abroad. It had not been that easy to make up my mind: 1. I had a girl friend at that time. 2. I could have barely spoken English as matter of fact, I hated English. 3. I had to think about financial matters such as tuition fee, rent fee and so on. After solving these problems –Giving up many things were not actually perfect solution though, I went to Canada. Also, I realized that studying English should not be a purpose but a tool to study something else. It changed my attitude to English. I became not to hate English any more. As a result, I am now taking Business English class without any fears or hesitations. Thanks to the time in Canada.

Well.. It is very recent that, I think, my life changed significantly. A few days ago, my best friend went abroad for work and study. His absence changed my life. With him, I use to play billiards, to drink and to talk about future when he lived in place nearby hufs.
I almost slept his house. we did many things together.
After his leaving i spend all day alone. But there are affirmative changes now. I frequently go to library for study and drink very few. I come my home everyday and do exercise for health. My life is changing with progress.
The most good benefit is the fact that I got part-time job thanks to him, my best friend. I undertook him.
Well... I'm satisfied with my life now.
But I miss him a little. HAHA!!
4years ago, I was freshman and I met some guy that is my fiance. I guess that moment was turnig point in my life.
before I met my boyfreind, I'd thought most of marriage couple are unhappy. They are irresponsible and don't love each other.(I'd thought like that. Even it was not true.)
But he is honest and sweet, so I could trust him. Now I can believe that there are happy marriage.

The most significant change in my life is that I decided to go to India.
Until then, I had not much interest in India and did not know what to do.
While working there, I learned not just what India is, but also what I have to in the future.
Since I set the goal through this expeirence, I became more confident about myself.

The most significant change of my life....
I think that would be my military exprience.
When I join the army(not valunteery haha), I was so much stressed..
But I had to control my emotions, anger... blah blah..
And, when I finished my duty on national defence and came back to university, everything had been changed like circumstances or friends attitude etc..
I just grew up so rapidly, and from then I noticed that I'm not a seventeen year-old boy.(But I think I'm still young mentally....-_-;)
When I was 19 years old, I failed SAT...
So I can't enter university. At that time I was young, and I got shoked. I can't not do anything, and I was so depressed for a while.
It was difficult to resotre my confidence.
But I decided to start my study angain, and finally I can enter HUFS.
I think that failure make me muture and I leanded many thing about life.
It is difficult to say change.
I think My significant change in my life was meeting a friend. I was a problem boy. and I don't know what I want to be. but then I met a good friend. so I leared many thing. Something like, how to study, why should I have to study, and friendship etc...
Now he is emigrated to the United States. so I did not see him often. but we still have good relationship. If I have never met him, I would be a different person.

hello professor
well, I think that the most significant change in my life was happened in 2006.
One day, I received a email which was from Military Manpower Administration.
On the email, they commented that I had to take to the military service by April 2006, otherwise I had only choice to take at 2007.
But as you know, everyone has their own schedule, also I had that year.
The most confuesed thing was the service of goverment, because that time I was in Canada.
I'd already delayed the military service until Sep. 2006, but I was received such email at Feb. 2006.
It was weird.
Therefore I'd no choice but to delay the military service, because I'd to finish my study.
Finally I finished my study and I was back to Korea at May 2006.
However I was really confused, because I didn't have any schedule until I take military service.
Therefore I looked for alternatives instead of military service.
It was tough job, because the most of company doesn't want a person who was not graduated their school.
I sent email more than 500 during that period.
Eventually I got a chance to work in company, in place of taking military service.
It was changed everything in my life.

Good evening professor! Sorry for the late comment...
The most significant change in my life so far is losing my weight. Before I served in army i was like 97kg. One day I decided to loose weight for my health. From then, I skipped dinner and exercised a lot. And also i quited snacking and drinking soda. After 2 months, I lost about 25kg. Losing 25kg was a huge deal for me. Everything has changed since then. My appearance changed as well as my personality. Before, i was like super shy guy but that has changed. And also i really hated all kinds of sports, but not anymore. My life has changed upside down since.
This was the most significant change in my life! See you tomorrow morning professor!!

Losing a lot of money.
It would be so stressful to lose
all the money. It will be a big problem.
When I'm bankrupt, I think it will take a long time to accumulate the money as before.
It'll also be a problem to the near future.
There's always something to pay for, but without money, I would have to starve and give up a lot of things.

I was an athlete when I was a middle school student. Specifically, my event was 10.000 meters. I really enjoyed running and actually I was pretty good. I won a bronze medal at national competition in 1999. However, soon after I injured my right ankle seriously and I had to choose if I kept my athlete career or just going to a normal high school. It happened to go to a normal school and I rarely regret of not continuing my athlete career but sometimes I wonder what would happen if I kept running.
This is my most significant change in my life so far I think. See you in class and have a nice dream!

Q. What has been the most significant change in your life?
dear Professor Hayashi
Most significant change in my life was that losing weight.
I was 124kg when I was 23years old.
I made up my mind to live healthy life.
I started to work out after semester.
It was really hard to work out 8 hours per day.
However, I didn't give up and tried to do my
best.
After 2 months I lost 30kg and satisfied myself.
Everything has been changed for example my eating style and spending free times.
I tried to work out everyday but nowadays I having really busy days.
After that experience, my character has been changed also, now i'm really cofident on everything.
Sorry for late and I hope you are not mad at this.
Thank you!

Apart from coming to Korea, which no doubt was the biggest change in my life, I recall the days when I first moved apart from my parents. I was seventeen then, a freshman student from a provincial city trying to make a living by working night shift...I used to live in a tiny apartment with four other girls, and my university was an hour subway ride away, which doesn't sound so bad in Seoul, but in Minsk it means waking up at 6 every morning to have enough determination to agressively push people in order to fit in a train...My university scholarship was somewhat 100.000 won every month, which obviously wasn't enough to get by, that's why I had to work just to make both ends meet.
I think this period of my life became the most meaningful change for me, because that was the time when I learnt the value of parents' support and the imprortance of being independent.
I rewrite to edit some parts.. sorry ^^;
What has been the most significant change in your life?
As I did't have lived for a long time, it's very difficult to respond. But I think that my experiences of university has changed me significantly.
When I was a student of high school, I was neither peculiar nor introvert. I was just a normal boy like another korean students that are studying hard regardless of their aptitude, interest and dream. I hadn't a passion for something and I just wanted to enter famous universities regardless of major. I didn't think
deeply about my life.
I couldn't get into a university that I had wanted, I got into here, HUFS. At the first time, I couldn't adapt myself to different environment of university.
But meeting many good people and passing through many experiences like club activities, voluntary services, workshops, and even love, I could find areas that I've never seen until that time. Also I could make many friends and have hobbies: playing guitar and taking pictures. I myself started to change.
Above all, the most significant thing was realizing what I want to do and will do. Studying my major, portuguese, I became interested in this language, and Brazillian culture, society, etc. So, I went to Brazil to study portuguese deeply and closely in the past year. I surely want to work in a company which I can use my capability of portuguese.
I can say that my university changed my everything.

The most significant change in my life was when I 20 years old. I failed the college entrance examination and i couldn`t enter university. At that time I really upset but my parents encoraged me. Their advice decided me to carry out my plan. Sometimes I had a envy of my friends.Because my friends are all freshmen. In contrast, i have gone to academy and I have never missed a day. I was trying for the second chance on the college entrance exam. Finally,I passed the exam with ease. Since 2005, I'll never forget it as long as i live.
No pains, No gains!

The most significant change in my life took place in Paris, for a long period of time. I've lived on an island on the Seine river in central Paris for a number of years. My dad's job as a diplomat allowed me and my family to go live in France, when I was still a young kid who just started elementary school. There, my brother and I went to an American International school.
The diverse atmosphere and culture changed me in every way imaginable. Paris is where I learned my English and French, my taste in music and art, and my worldwide vision. I owe a lot to the place that shaped and raised me. I wouldn't have been able to grow this way if I stayed in Korea all my life. That's why I always thank my family for providing me with a superb educational background. We should always try to receive gratification from the way things are, whatever the situation might be.

My significant change in my life is a living along because my university. When I lived with my parents I didn't have to choose many things. I just followed directions. But after livin by my self, I had to choose every thing. At the first time I suffered trial and errors, but I think it's a natural process to be an adult. Because of this experence, I could be more strong and independent

hello~ professor hayashi! :):) I just realized I got h.w to do ! ^^;
well the most significant change in my life took place in 2006. when I was in the 2nd grade of highschool, my mom suddenly asked me for an exchange program to U.S and I simply decided to go because i got sick and tired of studying boring stuff from early mornings to evenings. So I realized the most significant change on the 1st day of American school. Everything seemed so new to me and I had a really really hard time adjusting myself into a whole diffrent environment. since even high schools finished at 3p.m in U.S, this was on the one hand the good change, on the other hand the bad change. I thought, yes now I got freedom and i can do whatever i want to ! BUT then I realized that there was nothing else I can do except studying on a desk since that was what i have been doing for years and years. (I couldn't play sports like the other girls did) I felt miserable at first but soon I got used to enjoying the freetime and eventually became happy
:) I think changes always make us challenge ourselves.

I guess after studying abroad I have changed a lot. 2007, I went to China to learn Chinese and their culture. In China I experienced very many things such as making friends from all over the world, travel all over the China. Those experiences made me more mature than before. Since I was in other country I had to do everything by myself and this change me into more independent lady. I would say that was the most prcious memory in my life.

If I have to remember the most significant challenge, I would say it was my millitary service.
During 27months, I spent in an office. Actually, I am a kind of active, outgoing person, so I appied as a driver to move from base to base. I thought it would be free campare to other jobs such as office worker, rangers.
However, the millitary life that I had thought was changed. I located in an office which controlls supplies and transportation and the only thing I was able to do was Excel. Since I was natually weak at math, I always had difficult time. In addition, the workload was incredibly high, every day I had to do overtime work.
Finally the two year had passed and I finished the service. When I look back then, I was able to increase Excel ablility, carefulness about the figures. I think I was helpful for me, but during the time it was the great great challenge for me. :D

The most significant change in my life took
place 2 years ago when my aunt passed away.
From that experience I learned that
I have to express myself more because anybody
can pass away at any time and not to regret, I
have to express my feelings. I do not think
I have ever told her how I much I love her,
and it made me feel like a jerk.
I try to express and help people around me more now. I call my cousins more often and try to help them whenever they need me. I think I am more sensitive about others' feelings too.
I can understand better about people around me now and it has really helped me grow up.
I think sometimes, tragic experiences can still
change people in such a good way.

From my point of view, it is very difficult issue to deal with getting marriage which is related with not only the concept of Love but also finacial conditions.
Getting marriage is making a balace between them. So it is extremely hard to handle it.
Love is the abstract subject. I think we should define what is love befor we get married with him or her. Of course, it is very difficult work to do. But, unless we deal with it, it is easy for us to get tired of our life after wedding because we become accumstomed to living together and then try to find out someone new. That is why so may married couple cheat on each other. They did not set up the conceptual of Love. They just treat it as a food. just changign menu when they get tired of it.
it remains finantial issues if you solve the problem related with Love.
NOw, do you understand why i think it is the most difficult issue among the list?

I'd say the most significant change in my life would be having lived in England for a few years when I was betweeen 11 and 13. I went to England with my falily since my father did his MA in England. I enjoyed staying there. Definitely people were less intense than Koreans here. I think it's simply because England is better off than Korea. They already have undergone the history of transition of power from the monarch and noble peers to the people through hundreds of years, and they have stacked enough wealth through industrial revolution and colonisation. I could feel it was more mature, somewhat more law-abiding society than Korea. It does not mean English are better than Koreans genetically. I am totally against the ideas of social Darwinism or eugenics. Mainly thanks to their historical environmental, geopolitical background..I suppose.
However having that experience when I came back I could not really adapt myself to Korean school and society for some time. I think some cultural differences may have existed, and my standard may have gotten too high. Some Koreans tell me you're lucky because you have foreign experience and speak better English than average Koreans. However considering the difficulties I have faced when I came back I think it can't be always a good thing. There are always both sides in a coin.

Hello Ma'am
I just know that my a comment is not posted because, I got some problem with my gmail address, so I`d better post again ! Thanks for understanding my situation.
I think the most significant change in my life is 2-year military service as a KATUSA which stand for Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army. Actually My english skill was so bad. It was my weakness as long time. But I got lucky to be approved to join to the US Army service. Improving english skill was my goal before sign up for Army service but while I had taken the service, I could learn not only english but also how to understand and appreciate differences between people. I gained competitive experience from there and I could apply for internship in States. and I learned valuable things.
Thanks for reading poor letter.

Teacher, I've forgotten about this homework. I'm terribly sorry for the late typing..
I think the most important change in my life was my days in Philippines. Last year, I lived in Philippines for 6 months. It's not a long time, but also not a short time. That was the first time I've been abroad several months and lived with many foreigners. When I arrived there, so many strange things took my mind. Actually, I had negative ideas about living in another country a long time. But my Philippino friends changed that for positive meaning. They were very kind, funny, optimistic in every points of their lives even though they had only few things around them. They look very happy compared to our people in Korea.
One day, there were enormous flood in our city. That flood was the biggest in 100 years. Many neighbors came to our missionary's house. My house had 3 levels but others were not. Their houses were left with awful waters. But they had smile on their faces every day, and helped each other. Many animals and people died but not in my neighbor, it's very lucky. Heaven helped us. We had no water, no electricity for a week. It was terrible but we enjoyed our time together.
AFter these hard experiences, I got a wide view of the world and so many people even if I'm in Korea now. Someday i'll meet my friends there and treat them for return. They gave me lot of things more than words. It's hard to express what's in my heart, but it was significant in my life. I'm sure of it.

The whole process of becoming an adult, I think, has been a significant change in my life. I've heard a lot of older people saying, "If I were younger..." "I regret..." "In those days..." and now I think I can more emphathize with them. The whole process has been so subtle and quick, that I still find myself not quite settled in. I just want to be a strong and responsible adult.
